KUCHING (July 17): Sixty-seven former St Joseph’s Secondary School students from the class of 1986 and 1984 attended a reunion dinner at the Sarawak Club here last Saturday.
They included three from Australia, five from Singapore, and 10 from Peninsular Malaysia, who flew back for the reunion themed ‘Band of Brothers’, which reflected their strong bonds and spirit of friendship.
Among the notable attendees was Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim.
The event was organised by Basil Peregrine Ong and his committee comprising Mohd Arif, Saiful Busfari, Winston Lim, Daniel Liew, Aylwin Au, Dunstan Lim, Colin Wei, Wilson Tan, Nazim Moshi, Bunyamin Maknor, Steve Lau, and Frankie Roy.
This second event for the group saw many new faces not present during the first reunion five years ago.
Ong said the reunion was made possible and successful thanks to many generous friends contributing both in cash and kind.
He added that the hard work, dedication, and valuable time put in by the organising committee enabled all to enjoy and relive memories of the old days.
There was no protocol on the night with all in attendance dressed in their smart varsity jackets.
Prior to the dinner, some of the old boys also visited their alma mater where they found the Form 4 and 5 blocks looking very much the same with very minimal changes.
