KUCHING (July 8): St Joseph’s Private Secondary School recently hosted an investiture ceremony for its new scout members in honouring a long-standing tradition of the global movement that started over a century ago.

Group scout leader Jerome Lim presided over the ceremony on Saturday, marking the confirmation of commitment to the fundamental principles and values of scouting by its members.

In a statement, the school said each new member was presented a neckerchief and forage cap from Lim, after taking their scout’s oath.

“They were presented with two items that symbolise their responsibility to serve and become better individuals who embody the spirit of scouting,” it said.

The ceremony also highlighted the importance of scouting in moulding future leaders as it instils principles of duty, loyalty, and self-discipline.

“Also, it reflects the dedication and commitment of the school’s scout group leaders and members who carry the proud tradition of service and leadership,” said the school.
