KUCHING, Nov 13: Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen presented an allocation of RM100,800 to SK Laksamana here to install smart televisions (TVs) in the school to assist teachers in conducting their classes.
In a statement, Chong noted today that it is also part of his Stampin Service Centre’s programme to digitalise the teaching process.
“In this era, it is essential that the students be exposed to new technology in their learning process.
“Besides, the use of smart TVs in classes will also make their learning in schools more fun and easier to absorb what was taught by the teachers,” he said.
Chong, who is also Padungan assemblyman, mentioned that there are 89 students with special needs in SK Laksamana.
“We are particularly thankful to the teachers for their dedication in conducting the special classes. We hope that providing smart TVs will help make their teaching process more accessible.
“Teaching students with special needs requires not only special training but also enormous patience and skills.
“The government should also provide additional resources and funding to develop the facilities for the education of these special students,” he remarked.
Special assistants to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong, Michael Kong Feng Nian and Sim Kiat Leng, and Chong’s assistant Jordan Soo were also present during the handover. — DayakDaily
