KAPIT (Oct 15): The local recipients of state awards, presented in connection with the 78th birthday celebration of Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar recently, expressed appreciation and gratitude for the honour bestowed upon them.
Kapit Resident Galong Luang, who was awarded the ‘Excellent Service Medal’ (PPC), conveyed thanks to the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and also the elected people’s representatives in Kapit for recommending him.
“As a civil servant, my conscience is to serve the people and the government with full commitment and dedication. My aim to help the people improve their standard of living through the planning and delivery of infrastructure development,” he said in a statement, which also stated Song District officer Harry Bruce Edwin as a fellow PPC recipient.
Other state award honourees from Kapit are community leaders Penghulu Sng Che Hun, Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo and Kapitan Teo Tian Chai, each receiving Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) recognition.
