KUCHING: Providing free tertiary-level education to Sarawakians is a landmark decision made by the state government.
In stating this, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Faculty of Language and Communication Associate Professor Dr Souba Rethinasamy emphasised that having a proper education is important.
“As stated by Malcolm X, ‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today’. Meaning, education is critical for the development of Sarawak.
“Education equips people with the knowledge, skills and values required to contribute positively to every aspect of life,” she said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune.
Following this, she pointed out that education is the most powerful tool that can be used to bring positive changes to Sarawak.
“Therefore, investing in the education of Sarawakians by providing free tertiary-level education is the right step forward to ensure Sarawak’s bright future in line with its growth,” she applauded.
