DATE, Sept. 14: Air Doctor Service (FDS) nurse, the wife of Debra Moset who died in a helicopter crash at Long Lellang is safely buried at St Patrick's Cemetery, Village Semadang, here, at approximately 12:25 p.m. today.

The sad atmosphere surrounded the funeral of the deceased, which was attended by family, friends and the local community to pay their final respects.

Her husband, John Then Hua Ken described her as a humble, kind and dedicated employee of the government.

He said he never expected the tragedy to happen, but accepted it as part of the sacrifices and responsibilities that came with being an FDS nurse.

"For me, Long Lellang is a safe place. I personally didn't think anything like this would happen to him.

"When I get the news, I try not to believe it, but after many times contacting my wife without getting any feedback, I begin to understand that something has happened", he said when met by the media at their home in Semadang Village, here today.

John also expressed his gratitude to all those who helped him and his family from the tragic incident until the funeral was completed.

He said he was grateful and proud that the local community accepted Mandiang as a heroine who served, sacrificed and fulfilled her responsibilities well.

According to him, the decision to bury his dead body in Semadang Village was also related to his wife's last dream of settling in their new home there.

"That's why I brought him here because it was his last dream to live in our new home.

"Everything is ready and only electricity needs to be connected. He really intends to stay here when he returns to Kuching. May he leave peacefully because his ambitions have been fulfilled", she said.

Debra was among five victims of the FDS helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Baram that crashed and burned near the end of Long Lellang STOLport runway on 8 September.

The incident also killed Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30, medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33, nurse Jessie Paya Jok, 44, and medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, 31.

Debra is survived by her husband, John Then Hua Ken, 44, and two children, Euodia Then Suling, 15, and Eugene Then Suling, 12.-TVS
