MIRI (Aug 13): State Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin has lauded the community here for their support in the on-going anti-rabies mass vaccination, dog licensing and microchipping programme.
He also called upon the community to maintain vigilance in order to prevent another resurgence of rabies in the state.
“Although Miri is currently declared as rabies-free, it is important not to become complacent,” he said when met during an anti-rabies vaccination programme here Sunday.
According to him, over 160 dogs had received their vaccinations during a previous vaccination programme on Aug 3 and 4, at the parking lots of commercial premises in Senadin.
Lee, who is Senadin assemblyman, thanked the pet owners for their participation in the programme and also the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak Miri branch for their service and commitment.
“Those who have yet to get their pets vaccinated are encouraged to join the programme next weekend (Aug 17 and 18) at Miri Public Park, Jalan Miri Airport,” he said.
