Stephanie Ngu Chai Ern bags Sarawak’s first gold

KUCHING: Sarawak wushu exponent Stephanie Ngu Chai Ern bagged Sarawak’s first gold in the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

Scoring 9.603 in the women’s changquan, she managed to emerge champion leaving Johor and Melaka grabbing the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Expressing her excitement over her winning, she said that her training has finally bore fruit.

“I have been participating in SUKMA for four years and finally in my last year in SUKMA, I managed to make Sarawak proud by winning my first and Sarawak’s first gold,” she said.

With her win, which is the state’s first gold, she was fired up to win another gold for the home state.

“I have another two events coming up which are women’s Jianshu on Thursday and women’s Qianghsu on Friday.

“I hope that I will give Sarawak another gold medal for my next event. I will try my best for Sarawak,” she said.
