Stop parking at Kapit Express Boat Terminal walkway, vehicle owners urged

KAPIT (Aug 2): Vehicle owners are advised to stop parking their vehicles along the walkway of Kapit Express Boat Terminal, in front of the Kapit District Council (KDC) at Jalan Wharf.

A spokesperson from Sarawak River Board (SRB) Kapit branch said because of the constant movements coupled with the weight of the vehicles, the cement-and-mosaic walkway had cracked.

“Although Kapit Boat Express Terminal is no longer playing a prominent role as the gateway to Kapit, it is still used every day by those who travel via the river.

“The express boat and speed boats sailing to the upper Pelagus or to Punan Ba still use the terminal, so when a vehicle is parked at the entrance, it blocks their path and causes inconvenience.

“Also, the cracked mosaic is an eye-sore,” the SRB Kapit spokesperson told The Borneo Post here recently.
