SIBU: First come, first serve basis caused residents around Permai here to flock to attend the subsidy gas sales programme which was held by Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew ‘s Service Centre yesterday.

According to Ling, a total of 400 gas cylinders were snapped up before the conclusion of the time set at 10.30 am.

“The sale of subsidised gas in Permai here is very exciting where it’s unexpected and by not even 10.30 am, 400 gas cylinders have already been sold out,” he said during his Subsidy Gas Sales programme at the location.

Ling also said that each household is limited to only one gas cyclinder that costs RM20 in the subsidy programme which ran from 7.30 am until 10.30 am.

Adding on, he said that this programme was carried out to help reduce financial burden of the people here regardless of their status.

Meanwhile, touching on the rising of prices in flight tickets ahead of the forthcoming festival, Ling said, “recently, we have often received complaints about the airfares being very expensive”.

“In this context, the government is undeniably unable to intervene. However, the government has provided some solutions to overcome this issue.

“Among them is Ministry of Transport (MOT) will increase the number of flight operation which is the midnight flights with a fixed price.

“Next, we will also charge a fixed price for three days before the festival and three days after the festival.

“The last solution we made was to provide an initiative subsidy worth RM300 for the purchase of flight tickets for students in public institutions of higher learning,” Ling further stated.
