KUCHING: The inaugural Sarawak Urban Forum (SUF) 1.0 from Oct 12 to 22 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) will serve as a platform for local authorities to gather and share insights and ideas related to urbanisation.
Organised by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) in collaboration with Urbanice Malaysia, the key topics to be addressed include sustainable development goals (SDGs), smart cities, low carbon cities, and the circular economy.
The forum’s first meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister of Telecommunication and Utility Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, saw a range of discussions, including proposals for forum activities and exhibitions to be held throughout the programme.
Abdul Rahman emphasised the establishment of youth councils, children’s councils, and elderly councils following the Sarawak Urban Forum (SUF).
The meeting was also attended by DBKU director Mohamed Khaidir Abang and government agencies involved in the forum.
