MUKAH (Aug 20): The Sarawak Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI netball team won its second victory after beating Pahang 74-37 in the Group B match at Dewan Politeknik Mukah here today.
Sarawak performed brilliantly in the first quarter of the match with 18-8 and maintained momentum in the second half with 34-20 and third quarter with 50-29.
This victory gave Sarawak full points, while also surpassing Selangor and Pahang to occupy third place in the Group B chart.
This improves Sarawak’s chance of placing in the best two groups at the group level.
Sarawak head coach Katherine Khoo Sen Sen when met by reporters said that they are aiming for a bigger score when they meet Brunei Darussalam tomorrow.
“We must win in the last game no matter what. My target score for tomorrow is 100.
“Now we have to wait because Pahang will meet Terengganu tomorrow. If Pahang wins, most likely we will go to the next stage because our score is bigger,” she said.
Sarawak lost two matches previously against Kedah (45-48) and Terengganu (53-56).
Sarawak won for the first time with a score of 40-39 in the third match against Selangor yesterday.
