KUCHING (Aug 22): Enrique Maccartney Harold, 21, has clinched his first individual gold medal for the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma XXI) in the 10m platform with 409.10 points.

Competing in his fourth and final Sukma, Enrique outscored teammate Elvis Priestley Clement (390.25), who claimed the silver medal, and Sabah’s Muhammad Anilrian Normatr Abdullah (330.40), who won the bronze.

Although Enrique, who is from Balai Ringin, topped this contest, he was dissatisfied with his performance.

“I don’t think this was my best. I need to train harder to make it perfect and earn higher points. To me, the 409 points is not good enough,” he said.

The national diving team member has now trained his sights on international competitions, including the Malaysia Open.

He is currently pursuing a degree in mass communication.

Looking ahead, Enrique added he dreams of opening his own business someday.
