Sarawak’s women rugby players in action during a quarterfinal match against Federal Territories today.
MIRI (Aug 21): Sarawak’s Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI women rugby team advanced to the semifinals after defeating Federal Territories 21-0 in the quarterfinals today.
The team confidently secured 14 points in the first half and another seven points in the second half.
They will face Terengganu in the semifinals, which will kick off at 11.02am tomorrow. If they manage to advance to the finals, they will face Sabah or Selangor, later in the afternoon.
Sarawak men’s rugby team, on the other hand, only managed to reach 13th place after defeating Sabah’s team.
They were behind Sabah 5-12 in the first half but overcame the odds in the second, scoring five try points and two conversion points, bringing their final score to 27-12.
