Sukma XXI: TYT, wife expected to attend several key events

KUCHING (Aug 13): Yang di-Pertua Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi are expected to attend several key events of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma XXI).

According to Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, among the sports events that the couple had planned to attend would be athletics, tenpin bowling and wushu.

“I hope the secretariat would make the necessary arrangements for these events,” he said during a media briefing held after he paid a courtesy call on Wan Junaidi at the Astana Negeri here today.

Additionally, Abdul Karim extended an invitation to Wan Junaidi to officiate at the opening ceremony of Sukma XXI, at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya here this Saturday.

Abdul Karim, also the state Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, expressed his delight at the overwhelming response to the free tickets for the opening ceremony, noting that tickets were quickly snapped up within just two days of distribution.

“I want to thank the people of Sarawak for their tremendous support, as evidenced by the long queues for tickets. This clearly shows the strong enthusiasm and backing from the community.”
