Unfavourable weather conditions have forced the postponement of sailing events.

MIRI (Aug 20): The second day of sailing events at Marina Bay here today had to be postponed this morning due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Principal race officer Abdul Halim Hassan said the downpour since earlier today posed a danger to the athletes, hence the decision to push back all races, which were supposed to begin at 10am, until the weather improves.

“The rain, as well as the inconsistent winds led us to raise the AP flag to inform all participating athletes that the races scheduled this morning have been postponed.

“We will however take down the flag later on once the weather improves,” he told reporters.

After yesterday’s races, Sarawak topped the Men’s International 420 and Women’s International 420.

Sarawak was also in the top three after three races yesterday for the Women’s RS One category (ranked second), Men’s Techno 293 (ranked third), and Men’s RS One (ranked third).
