Sultan of Selangor urges people to consolidate unity on Malaysia Day

SHAH ALAM, 16 September: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah urged all the people to continue strengthening unity and appreciating the peace and harmony that the country has enjoyed in celebration of Malaysia Day today.

He also urged the people to cultivate a spirit of tolerance and respect for one another regardless of race, religion or culture.

"He always prayed that this spirit of solidarity will continue to be the mainstay of our people in preserving the country's well-being so that Malaysia remains safe, prosperous and united for present and future generations", he said via Facebook at Selangor Royal Office today.

The Sultan of Selangor announced the celebration on 16 September every year as a memorial to the historic moment of Malaysia's formation.

"He hopes that this meaningful date will always be remembered as a symbol of national unity uniting all the people of Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak in one sovereign state", according to the message.

Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Empress of Selangor Tengku Empress Norashikin also expressed their greetings to all Malaysians on Malaysia Day 2026.

"Happy Malaysia Day, Malaysia!" according to the message.
