SUPP doles out aid to fire victims

SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pelawan Branch provided aid totalling RM2,650 to the fire victims at Lane 9, Kampung Bahagia, Jalan Teku.

Penghulu Stephen Yong handed over the aid on behalf of Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, who is also the Pelawan assemblyman, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, at his service centre today (July 15).

During the aid presentation ceremony, Yong said the aid was meant to help alleviate the burden of the victims following the unfortunate incident.

“I am aware that some NGOs and the YB (people’s representative) have already extended assistance. I also urge the victims to seek help from relevant agencies, particularly for rebuilding their homes,” he added.

In the July 10 fire incident, a disabled senior citizen perished while 26 persons from three families were left homeless.
