SIBU (July 13): Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development Team chairman Kevin Lau recently visited areas of concern in the state constituency following numerous complaints by its residents regarding water, drainage, and infrastructure problems.

Accompanying Lau and his team were officials from the Public Works Department (JKR) and Sibu Water Board (SWB).

“Many of the residents complained of poor road conditions, causing great inconvenience to daily road users commuting for long stretches.

“Due to the land sinking problem, the road has uneven surfaces. This is especially dangerous to motorcyclists and thus, need to be repaired as soon as possible,” he told reporters when met after inspecting the sites.

In addition, Lau was informed of broken water pipes and leakages that affected the area’s water supply pressure.

“I have requested relevant authorities to look into these complaints and fix them immediately, ensuring the residents can return to their normal routine soon,” he said.

Moreover, Lau reminded the local residents to play their roles in supervising and reporting damaged public facilities.

“Should you come across any issue, inform us and we will assist to contact the relevant authorities to help resolve the matter.”

Meanwhile, Lau also thanked the JKR and SWB for maintaining close cooperation with the Bawang Assan Community Development Team to improve the living conditions of residents in the constituency.
