SIBU (Oct 25): The recent water supply issue in the Durin area was caused by a leak in a 600mm Ductile Iron (DI) pipe near Jalan Durin just past the Durin Bridge.
The Sibu Water Board (SWB) in a statement today confirmed that it had promptly initiated repairs on the damaged pipe.
The repair process was delayed due to the pipe’s depth, which complicated efforts to locate the leak.
“The repair was successfully completed on Oct 25, and the pumping was resumed at 4am.
“During this period, the board actively dispatched water tankers to supply water to the affected areas, particularly those at higher elevations and the endpoints of the pipeline.
“The board values the community’s understanding and seeks cooperation in conserving water through prudent usage during this time,” it said.
SWB added that water tankers would remain on standby to respond quickly to any further water supply needs.
It also committed to improving communication with the community by providing regular updates on service changes and improvements.
“Through these initiatives, the Board aims to enhance the efficiency of water delivery and the overall quality of service provided to residents,” it said.
