Swift action by tenants wards off fire

SADONG JAYA: A store room was spared from being totally destroyed by fire, thanks to the quick actions by the tenants who managed to douse off the fire at a house in Kampung Iboi Ulu, Sadong Jaya on Tuesday (July 16).

The fire that consumed the store for kitchen goods, happened around 6.05pm. However, it was swiftly put out by the tenants before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters from Asajaya station rushed to the scene, about 13km away, after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, the team performed overhaul works to ensure that there was no risk of reignition.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 7.27pm.

It was reported that 80 per cent of the storeroom was burnt. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
