SERIAN: Tadika Juara of St Joseph Convent here has embarked on an ambitious expansion with strong community support.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus expressed confidence in the timely completion of the project and called for continued backing from the community.

“I hope the construction will be able to be completed on time as scheduled, and for the shortfall in funds, I hope Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) will continue to contribute to the completion of the kindergarten,” he said on Friday (Dec 1) after the earth-breaking ceremony for the proposed extension of the kindergarten.

Founded in 1957, Tadika Juara holds historical significance and plays a crucial role in providing education to the local community.

With growing enrolment, the current facilities are considered inadequate for delivering the desired holistic education.

The upcoming extension aims to uphold the Sisters of St Joseph’s Convent’s mission of serving and educating the community’s young children.

The Sisters of St Joseph’s Convent, in a press statement, expressed their commitment to contributing meaningfully to the society in Serian.

Sisters of St Francis of Sarawak superior general Sr Rose Wong further stressed the trust the community places in Tadika Juara, attributing the need for expansion to increasing enrolment.

She highlighted the extension as a promise and commitment to the community’s children, expressing hope and prayers for its construction.

Despite having raised over RM1.10mil through active fundraising, there is a target of RM4.80mil for the total project completion.

Unifor’s contribution of RM1,000,000 in 2021 has been crucial, and the Sisters appeal to all interested parties for further support to realise their project goal.

Present at the ceremony were Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, Archbishop Simon Poh, Rector Fr Lazarus, Unifor representative Ambrose Linang, and others.
