Step into Siang Siang Corner at Matang Jaya, Kuching, and you’ll discover a hidden gem that will tantalise your taste buds. Located on Lots 701 and 702, Jalan Matang, this cosy food haven has become my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area.
Whether you’re a local or a traveller passing through, Siang Siang Corner is the perfect pit stop. I’ve relied on it as a convenient rendezvous point for Maxim taxi public transport during my journeys from Metrocity to Matang Jaya.
Since 2019, I’ve become well-acquainted with their diverse range of dishes, having sampled an array of mouthwatering delights.
One stall that never fails to impress is run by the talented Miss Helen Chai. Her expertise in preparing delectable dishes, like my all-time favourite pork leg and the delightful combination of pork and eggs, keeps me coming back for more. I even had the pleasure of capturing a photo of Miss Chai at her stall.
Another noteworthy stall, supported by a dedicated team, also serves up succulent pork leg and a variety of other dishes.
Siang Siang Corner boasts a vibrant culinary landscape with a diverse selection of stalls. You’ll find a stall offering a tantalizing mix of rice, fried chicken, eggs, pork, and other tasty treats.
If you’re in the mood for something comforting, there’s a dedicated stall specialising in pork and fish porridge.
For those seeking an economical yet satisfying meal, the “economy food stall” offers a range of dishes served with rice.
And if noodles are your weakness, be sure to try the stall that expertly fries up noodles, meehun, and kway tiau.
I’ve personally savoured each of these delightful offerings since my first visit in 2019.
The best part? Siang Siang Corner caters to your cravings from early morning until late at night, with a closing time around midnight.
I recall leaving the establishment with a friend at 11 p.m. after enjoying a few cans of beer. It was a memorable evening shared with a former colleague from Sarawak Tribune, back in 2020.
During my recent visit last Saturday, I had the pleasure of chatting briefly with Miss Chai. She shared that she has been running her stall since 2018, alongside her younger sister, who happens to be a teacher.
It’s heartwarming to see their family bond and dedication to their business. Although Miss Chai kept her age a secret, I estimate she is in her early 30s.
Miss Chai also mentioned that her business is thriving, serving over 100 dishes on a good day. The stall operates daily, with her and her two younger sisters taking turns handling the business.
As for beverages, Siang Siang Corner’s main operator, Matang Jaya Siang Siang Corner, provides a refreshing selection. A large cup of tea or coffee is priced at RM2.20, while a small cup costs RM1.70.
If you prefer a soft drink, it’s available for RM2.70 per bottle. Additionally, the corner offers various alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, and other items for your convenience.
Siang Siang Corner is always abuzz with customers, especially during sports seasons. Enthusiasts of football and other sports are drawn to the establishment’s two big screens, which create an exciting atmosphere.
I find myself captivated by the vibrant ambience at Siang Siang Corner in Matang Jaya.
Judging by the enthusiastic response from customers, Siang Siang Corner at Matang Jaya is undoubtedly a must-visit destination.
It shares the same charm and excellence as other Siang Siang Corners in Kuching, including those in Tabuan Jaya, Mile 10, and various outlets throughout the city.
