KUCHING (Sept 5): Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), through its Tegas Digital Village (TDV), has launched the third cohort of the Tegas Fundraising Accelerator (TFA) programme.
The programme is aimed at fast-tracking the growth of local startups and social enterprises in line with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2030 and the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, said Tegas in a statement today.
In this edition, Tegas is partnering again with Pitch Platforms Sdn Bhd (pitchIN) and MYStartup for the programme.
pitchIN is Malaysia’s Digital Fundraising and Investment Hub, while MYStartup is a national project initiated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) and developed by Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd set to improve the competitiveness of local startups towards achieving a Top 20 ranking in the Global Startup Ecosystem by 2030.
“The TFA programme is tailored to support entrepreneurs with limited or no experience in raising capital from external investors. The programme will fully equip startup founders with the necessary skills and knowledge to secure funding for their ventures, providing an in-depth understanding of fundraising techniques,” said Tegas chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
The Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment added: “As we embark on the third year of the accelerator, we believe that this programme will be a critical catalyst for local businesses, helping them not only to refine their fundraising strategies but also to build lasting connections with investors and industry leaders.”
Len Talif said this initiative is designed to empower Sarawakian startups to scale new heights and unlock their full potential.
The TFA programme will take place at TDV from Oct 1 to 4, covering essential topics such as navigating the fundraising journey, executing successful strategies and campaigns and pitchIN assessments.
Selected participants will benefit from mentoring and networking opportunities with industry experts, office hours, panel discussions, one-on-one sessions with seasoned entrepreneurs, and access to startup support and benefits via MYStartup, among other resources.
Notable mentors for the programme include Sam Shafie, the co-founder and chief executive officer of pitchIN; Kashminder Singh, the co-founder and chief strategy officer of pitchIN; and other prominent angel investors, funding agencies and venture capitalists.
The programme is open to registered local businesses with at least one Sarawakian co-founder that have been operational for a minimum of 12 months and have demonstrated traction.
