KUCHING (Aug 7): Fourteen representatives of the Cekal Setia Terengganu Motorcycling Group have embarked on a Pan Borneo expedition, covering a distance of 4,690km.

Bringing along eight high-powered motorcycles, they will travel across the Borneo Island, starting with Sarawak and proceeding to Sabah, Brunei and Pontianak (Kalimantan), before returning to Sarawak.

According to the group’s advisor Ahmad Tarmizi Mohammed, the journey will take about 20 days.

“I’ve been coming to Borneo since 2013 (to do this journey), but after telling it to our members back in Terengganu, the bikers are very interested to come into the island. And now, it is our fourth time doing this.

“Previously, we’d only begin our journey here (Kuching) and end in Sabah, but now, we decide to make it a round trip.

“For this expedition, upon arriving in Kota Kinabalu, we will make the return trip (to Kuching) along the Pan Borneo Highway,” he told reporters when met prior to the trip at a hotel here yesterday.

The flag-off was performed by Supt Lim Nee Kon from the Sarawak Contingent police headquarters.
