Thai national in Kuching fined total RM5,500 for threatening to kill employer, damaging items

KUCHING (Aug 9): The Magistrates’ Court here today fined a Thai national a total of RM5,500 in default eight months in jail for damaging items and threatening to kill his employer.

Kiatisak Patma, 53, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali after a charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 506 of the Penal Code were read to him.

For the first charge, he was fined RM2,000 in default three months’ jail under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by damaging items.

For the second charge, he was fined RM3,500 in default five months’ jail under Section 506 of the Penal Code for committing criminal intimidation by threatening to kill his employer.

Kiatisak committed the offences at a Thai restaurant at Jalan Wan Alwi here around 9.40pm on Aug 6, 2023.

Based on the facts of the case, Kiatisak, who was in an intoxicated state, threatened to kill his 69-year-old employer, causing the latter to feel scared and traumatised.

Kiatisak also ran amok and broke the eatery’s door by kicking it, apart from punching a makeup mirror, causing losses of RM700.

A police report was lodged and Kiatisak was arrested.

During his arrest, Kiatisak was still drunk and in an aggressive state but eventually calmed down after being consoled.

ASP Arman Ibrahim prosecuted the case while Kiatisak was unrepresented by legal counsel.
