The Sarawak Government and the Federation set out a formula for sharing profits

KUCHING, 16 September: The Federal Government and the Government of Sarawak will determine a formula for income sharing as provided under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said he appreciated the Federal Government's agreement on the matter, which was touched along with some developments related to Sarawak's rights and interests.

"On behalf of the Sarawak Government, I would also like to thank the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Union Government for agreeing to define a formula for revenue sharing between the central government and Sarawak", he said.

He said this while addressing the National Level Malaysia Day 2026 in Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK), here tonight.

At the same time, Brother Johari also appreciated the central government's agreement to place tourism sector in Joint List under the Ninth Schedule of the Federal Constitution, which he said is capable of strengthening cooperation between the two levels of government.

"This step will open up space for stronger collaboration and cooperation between the Central Government and the Sarawak Government to advance tourism", he explained.

In this regard, Brother Johari hopes that the development will strengthen the understanding that recognition of Sabah and Sarawak's rights and privileges should be seen as part of the national agenda, while efforts are made to ensure the development of all regions is implemented more fully. - TVS
