Three individuals arrested, drugs seized in two raids on Kuching

KUCHING, Sept 14: Three individuals consisting of two men and one woman were arrested in two separate raids here yesterday and today with the total suspected drugs methamphetamine and erimin 5 pills worth approximately RM1,146 seized.

Kuching Regional Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the first raid was carried out at about 3pm yesterday by a police team of the Drug Crime Investigation Division of the Kuching Regional Police Headquarters (IPD) in Semariang Jaya Village area.

According to him, a 25-year-old local man was arrested in the raid and an examination found suspected methamphetamine weighing 5.18 grams worth about RM500.

"The initial urine filtration test of the suspect also found positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while the examination found that the suspect had a previous criminal record.

"In a second raid at about 2.40 am today, a police team of the Drug Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) IPK Sarawak detained a 41-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man in front of a hotel on Jalan Tawi Sli", he said in a statement today.

He said that the test results found suspected methamphetamine weighing 11.73 grams and Erimin 5 pills weighing 0.85 grams with an estimated total value of RM646.

"Both suspects tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and benzodiazepine (benzo) through an early urine filter test. A record check found that the female suspect had six previous criminal records, while the male suspect had three.

"All three suspects are now being detained under Section 117 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to assist in the investigation, while a second case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
