SIBU (Oct 13): Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has called for an end to the spread of misleading information on Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, warning of stern action, including blacklisting, against the agents responsible.
The federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture revealed that an investigation has been launched to identify the agents behind the misinformation.
“We are aware of inaccurate information being spread about the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, including claims that it is not yet operational and cannot accept applications.
“I want to remind some of the agents to cease circulating false rumours and misleading updates about the MM2H programme, as this can confuse and mislead applicants.
“Following multiple complaints, we have launched an investigation to identify the agents behind this misinformation.
“Once identified, we will take strict action, including blacklisting these agents, their directors, and shareholders, to prevent future misconduct,” Tiong said in his Facebook post yesterday.
He emphasised that these irresponsible actions could negatively affect the MM2H programme and cause further harm.
“These irresponsible agents are hindering our efforts to promote MM2H internationally.
“Let this be a clear warning: any agents deliberately spreading false information, misleading the public, or profiting from these actions will face serious consequences.”
Tiong clarified that the MM2H programme has already been relaunched and is open to eligible applicants, adding that several categories of applicants have already been successfully approved.
However, the online application system is still undergoing testing to ensure it functions smoothly, he said.
“Opening the system prematurely, without fully ensuring its reliability, could lead to failures that would undermine the government’s systems and erode applicants’ confidence.
“We ask for your patience while we perfect it. In the meantime, applications are being accepted through other channels, and some applicants have already been approved under different categories.
“We strongly encourage all potential applicants to seek information directly from official sources and avoid being misled by unofficial reports.”
Adding on, Tiong said the MM2H programme is ready, and welcomes all interested “foreign friends” to apply through the proper channels and take advantage of the opportunity to live and develop in Malaysia.
“The Ministry will continue to oversee the process, ensuring transparency, fairness, and the protection of every applicant’s rights.”
