KUALA LUMPUR, 21 September: The official mascot of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2027, Tuah will be carried throughout the 2026 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) race as a symbolic promotion for the two-year theme.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Secretariat of Organizers of SEA Sports Malaysia (MASOC) and ASEAN Games 2027 Datuk Abdul Rashid Yaakub said that the partnership provides an opportunity for him to leverage LTdL's wide coverage to introduce SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2027 to local communities as well as international audiences.
"The LTdL's scope is very wide as it covers the inland areas from north to south although this year (the race) does not pass through Sabah, Sarawak and East Coast (but) the range remains very broad (which covers many areas) of villages, schools and across the country", he said at a press conference with LTdL 2026 organisers at the National Sports Council (MSN) today.
He said the LTdL route covering about 1,200 kilometers (km) from north to south of Peninsular Malaysia provides ample space for promoting the theme which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Johor and Penang next year.
Meanwhile, LTDL Chief Operating Officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the cooperation provides great promotional value to SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2027.
The statement was clearly taken into account LTdL broadcast coverage covering Southeast Asia as well as international audience.
Meanwhile, he announced that LTdL 2026 is expected to be broadcast by more than 21 broadcasters, thus providing an opportunity for the branded SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2027 to reach a wider audience.
"This time, for coverage in Southeast Asia and Asia, the official broadcaster is beIN Sports Asia and the beIN Sports Asia network also covers almost all SEA Games countries that will watch.
"In Indonesia, there's a special channel that will cover it, and so is Thailand. So if we get enough coverage in Southeast Asia through beIN Sports Asia, I think these SEA Games and ASEAN Paralympics can actually go around the world through LTdL", he added.
LTdL 2026 runs from 27 September to 4 October, starting with Phase 1 from Shah Alam to Kampar and ending with Phase 8 from Muar to Putrajaya, covering a total distance of 1,285.5 km. -TVS
