TVS, Curtin University Malaysia has partnered to produce creative content in the Northern Zone of Sarawak

MIRI, 19 Sept: TV Sarawak (TVS) and Curtin University Malaysia are planning a strategic partnership to produce tourism-based content, adventure as well as documentary series focusing on the Northern Zone of Sarawak.

Sarawak Media Group (SMG) Chief Executive Officer, Kushairi Abang said the collaboration also opened up space for university students to engage directly in content production that is closer to audience desires.

According to him, university students are among the important audience groups of TVS, thus providing an opportunity for its members to understand their interests and needs.

"We are planning a partnership plan between Curtin University and TVS in the Northern Zone, specifically in terms of tourism-based content, adventure and documentary series needed for the Northern Region.

"Our audience is also made up of university students, they know what they want to see and that's why we work with university students to produce better content and meet their needs", he said.

He said this when he was met after a visit by TV Sarawak (TVS) to Curtin University Malaysia, here, today.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia, Professor Pauline Ho Poh Ling said she saw the collaboration as an opportunity to provide a more practical learning experience for students.

According to him, students' involvement in media-related activities can also give them direct experience in the industry, especially through opportunities related to SEA Games 2027.

"This partnership not only provides excellent learning experiences for students, but at the same time gives them hands-on practical experience, especially in the field of media.

"The most exciting is the forthcoming SEA Games, as it provides an excellent platform for our students to engage in various media activities related to the international sports theme", he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of Department of Media and Communication, Curtin University Malaysia, Terry Justin Dit said he welcomed the willingness of TVS to help strengthen students' creative output through the cooperation that will be implemented.

According to him, students of Curtin University Malaysia also have the necessary skills to support TVS's efforts in expanding its collaborative network with higher education institutions.

"We are delighted to hear that the TVS team is ready to assist us in this collaboration, especially in producing creative work by students.

"I am also happy to know that our students actually have the skills and capabilities to help TVS in this collaborative effort", he said.

The cooperation is expected to focus on the development of tourism and adventure content, production of documentary series as well as student involvement in media and communication projects in Northern Zone Sarawak. - TVS
