SIBU (July 30): Two drivers were injured in separate single-vehicle accidents near SK Ulu Sungai Merah along Jalan Ulu Oya here today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call at 8.05am and dispatched 13 firefighters from Sungai Merah fire station to the location.

“A 47-year-old female driver was trapped inside one of the cars while her passenger managed to get out on her own before the firefighters arrived.

“The firefighters successfully removed the victim from the car and she was handed over to paramedics for further action,” it added.

Bomba said the male driver of the other car, who managed to exit the vehicle, was taken to Sibu Hospital by members of the public before the firefighters arrived.

After ensuring that the situation at the location was safe, the firefighters ended the operation at 8.53am.
