Two families in Batu Kawa escape unscathed after fire destroys house

KUCHING (Sept 7): Two families residing in a two-door twin house at Jalan Sinsantu in Batu Kawa here escaped unscathed after a fire destroyed the house Saturday morning.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said a call on the incident was received at 8.57am and a team from the Petra Jaya fire station was despatched to the scene.

“The incident invovled a two-door twin house that was 90 per cent destroyed. Firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire,” he said in a statement.

The two families comprised seven individuals, including a boy and a baby.

Overhaul works were done after ensuring the fire would not reignite and the operation ended at 10.40am.
