Two vehicles destroyed in a house fire in Miri

MIRI, Sept. 19: Two vehicles destroyed in a fire at a terraced house on Table Road 2, Miri this morning.

According to the Centre for Operational Motion (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak, it received an emergency call at 11.23 am before teams from Miri Central Fire and Rescue Hall (BBP) and BBP Lopeng arrived on site at 11.35 am.

The fires involved terraced houses measuring 30 by 60 feet with about 60 percent of the structures on the ground floor burning.

Two vehicles were also destroyed in the incident, one Toyota Unser estimated at 10 percent burned and another Toyota vehicle completely burned.

A total of 14 members with two FRT engines and an EMRS were involved in the extinguishing operation led by PBK I Hairi Istal.

The fire was brought under control at 12:34 p.m., while the extinguishing operation was fully completed by 2:28 p.m.

No casualties were reported involved in the incident.

The cause of the fire and total damage are still under investigation.
