KUCHING (Aug 4): Two women, who lost their way while trekking at Bung Muan, Jalan Bau Lama near here were successfully rescued last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement today said they were notified about the incident by one of the victims at around 2.20pm yesterday.
“Firefighters from the Bau fire station were immediately deployed to initiate the search and rescue (SAR) operation,” it added.
Throughout the ordeal, the two 25=year-old women managed to stay in contact with the SAR team via their mobile phones.
“Both victims were uninjured and were successfully led down from the mountain by the SAR team,” it said.
According to Bomba, the two women started their trek at around 9am yesterday and were unable to find their way back.
The SAR operation was also assisted by the local villagers.
The operation concluded at 9.37pm last night.
