MUKAH: Deputy Premier and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, conducted a ground visit to several ongoing infrastructure projects in Mukah Division as part of the ministry’s efforts to oversee progress.

The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) issued a statement detailing the projects under inspection: the ‘Proposed Upgrading and Rehabilitation Works Along the Existing Coastal Road’ under Package PB-10A and the ‘Proposed Upgrading and Pavement Repair Works Along the Existing Coastal Road’ under Package PB-10B.

Package PB-10A includes the construction of the Batang Balingian Bridge and the upgrading of the road from Balingian to Kuala Balingian, covering a distance of 12.45km. This project is a vital component of the Sarawak government’s Coastal Road Project.

Package PB-10B focuses on upgrading and repairing the pavement along the 10.40km stretch from Kuala Balingian Road to Kuala Serupai, which is also a significant part of the Coastal Road Project.

These projects are essential for improving road connectivity across Mukah Division, enhancing transportation efficiency, and ensuring safer travel routes for both residents and visitors.

The statement also highlighted that both projects are still in progress, with materials and machinery being actively deployed to meet their respective deadlines.

“Package PB-10A, managed by Alfa Mount Sdn Bhd, is expected to be completed by Sept 5, while Package PB-10B, handled by Asarajaya Sdn Bhd, is slated for completion by Aug 22.”

These infrastructure developments are part of Sarawak’s long-term strategy to enhance the state’s road network through initiatives like the Coastal Road Project and the Second Trunk Road (STR) Project.

The successful completion of these projects is expected to stimulate socioeconomic growth and further development in the region.

Sarawak JKR director Ir Dr Cassidy Morris was also present during the site visits.
