Large parts of Peninsular Malaysia, including the Klang Valley, recorded unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings as of 9am.
The API remained the highest in Serian, Sarawak, with a reading of 188, close to the unhealthy level.
In West Malaysia, the highest API reading was recorded in Johan Setia, Selangor (182), followed by Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (171), Pasir Gudang, Johor (171) and Shah Alam, Selangor (168).
In the Klang Valley, the API remained at the unhealthy level in Putrajaya (166), Batu Muda (162), Petaling Jaya (160), Klang (160), Banting (157) and Kuala Selangor (156).
The air quality was also unhealthy across Negeri Sembilan and Pahang, with the highest APIs in each state recorded in Nilai (168) and Balok Baru Kuantan (162), respectively.
Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu and Sarawak recorded a mix of moderate and unhealthy air quality in different areas.
The skies were clearer in Sabah, Kelantan and Perlis, with moderate API readings reported throughout.
