KUCHING, July 11: The unit price index of cement in Kuching has increased by 0.1 per cent in June compared to previous month.

Chief Statistician at the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest increase of 2.1 per cent.

He said the average price of cement (ordinary Portland) registered a marginal increase of 0.3 per cent with an average price of RM23.10 per 50 kg bag as compared with May 2024 with an average price of RM23.04 per 50 kg bag.

According to a statement today, an annual comparison for June 2023 and June 2024 showed that the unit price index of cement increased between 0.4 per cent to 4.7 per cent for all areas in Sarawak, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia. — DayakDaily
