Unloaded trailer truck catches fire while parked by roadside in Bintangor

SIBU (Aug 30): The driver’s cabin of an unloaded trailer truck caught fire while parked at Jalan KJD, Sungai Mador, Bintangor last night.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a report was received at around 11pm and the Bintangor fire station despatched five firefighters to the scene about 26km away.

“On arrival, it was found the driver’s cabin of the unloaded trailer truck and its front tyre had caught fire and the trailer suffered 50 per cent damage,” Bomba said in a statement.

The department said there were no witnesses to be found and the owner of the trailer was not at the scene.

“After the fire was completely extinguished and the situation was deemed safe, the firefighters returned to base,” said the statement.

The cause of the fire and value of damages have yet to be ascertained.
