KOTA KINABALU (Oct 17): Sabah receiving the Unmodified Opinion certificate from the Auditor-General for the State Government’s Financial Statements for the year ending Dec 31, 2023, submitted between January and June 2024, is proof that the state is under the right leadership.
Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, in a statement regarding the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) 3/2024 on Government and State Agencies presented in the Parliament, said the five states that received this certificate were Johor, Pahang, Perak, Sarawak and Sabah.
Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said this achievement is a testament to the strong financial governance and transparency practiced by the Sabah Government.
“Under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Pakatan Harapan Plus (GRS-PH Plus), we remain committed to ensuring that every public fund is managed responsibly. This recognition from the National Audit Department proves that Sabah is indeed under good and financially stable leadership.
“I must emphasise that this success did not come by chance. The Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ) is the main key to the progress and stability of the state of Sabah. This plan focuses on comprehensive and continuous development, including the economic, social and infrastructure sectors, ensuring that we can provide opportunities to all levels of society.
“Through this plan, we do not ignore the importance of using public funds to critical places carefully.
“The fact that Sabah’s financial statements have been received without any issues or objections shows that we are on the right track towards fiscal stability and long-term growth,” he said in a statement today.
Nizam said this achievement also reflects their continuous efforts in implementing development programs that focus on the needs of the people, as well as their commitment to ensure the welfare of the people of Sabah are taken care of.
He expressed his appreciation to all departments, agencies and stakeholders who have played a role in maintaining this high level of financial accountability.
“The Sabah Government will continue to prioritise the well-being of the people through careful financial management and ensure that Sabah remains an example of good governance in Malaysia,” he added.
