KUCHING, June 18: Up to 1,000 current Form 5 students can join the 2024 SPM Power Preparation seminar for free, scheduled from July 20 to 21, 2024, at UCSI Hotel.
Special Assistant to Bandar Kuching MP, George Lam, revealed that the seminar is jointly organised by the P195 Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Constituency Service Center, 196 Stampin Parliamentary Constituency Service Center, and UCSI University Sarawak Campus.
In a statement today, Lam mentioned that this is the second consecutive year the service centers of the two parliamentary constituencies are hosting the seminar to provide students in the constituencies an opportunity to participate in exam preparation seminars.
“It aims to enhance students’ exam skills and broaden their horizons through learning from different speakers.
“In addition, this also demonstrates the commitment of both Democratic Action Party (DAP) representatives, Chong Chieng Jen and Dr Yii, in prioritising education for students in their constituencies, actively organising educational activities aimed at improving students’ achievements and providing them with better opportunities for further studies in the future.”
Lam highlighted that the SPM Power Preparation seminar this year will cover eight subjects.
“The first day will focus on core subjects such as Malay, English, History, and Mathematics, while the second day will cover elective subjects including Additional Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.”
He added that experienced teachers from the education sector will dedicate themselves during these two days to laying a strong foundation for students to better prepare for upcoming exams.
“This year, Form Five students will face SPM trial exams earlier, with some schools opting to conduct them as early as September. This significantly reduces the time students have to study all subjects. This seminar aims to provide students with exam preparation direction and methods, ensuring they prepare for exams in the right direction and avoid unnecessary detours.”
Lam thanked UCSI University Sarawak Campus for their willingness to fulfill corporate social responsibility by co-organising this event.
“I also express my gratitude to the Sarawak Education Department for approving the event, allowing it to proceed smoothly,” he concluded. — DayakDaily
