SIBU (July 14): An online system for the revamped Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme is currently being developed, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
He also refuted allegations that the MM2H programme’s applications were solely handled by agents.
“Currently, the online system is under construction and I have instructed the ministry officers to expedite the work,” he said on his Facebook page.
The online system, he added, was in accordance with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s wish for consistency and efficiency.
“We have standardised the service charge for agents and specified the scope of services that agents must provide to applicants, to ensure that the interests of both agents and applicants are protected,” he said.
“Therefore, I would like to advise former agents who do not meet the new requirements to refrain from spreading rumours and disrupt the programme’s implementation,” he said, adding such irresponsible acts would result to them being blacklisted.
Under the newly announced MM2H programme which came into effect June 15 this year, applicants are divided into three tiers – Platinum, Gold and Silver.
The revamped MM2H programme, Tiong said, also involved restructuring the requirement specifications of agents, meant to protect the rights of both the applicants and the agents.
In this regard, he called for those who meet the requirements to apply to become an agent for the revamped MM2H so as to help promote the programme.
