Once completed, the upgraded Lubau Water Treatment Plant will become one of the main water treatment facilities serving Betong Division.

“It will complement the Kaki Wong Water Treatment Plant in Saratok, which has also been upgraded from 30 MLD to 60 MLD, while the Licuk Water Treatment Plant in Saratok currently has a capacity of 25 MLD,” he said in a Facebook post after visiting the project site, as reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.

Julaihi added that two additional water supply projects are currently underway in Betong Division, involving the installation of water grid pipelines from Simpang Betong to the surrounding areas of Saratok and Pusa.

According to him, the Sarawak government-funded projects will strengthen water security by establishing a comprehensive water grid system across the division.

Also present during the site visit were Betong MP Dato Dr Richard Rapu, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Datu Jafri Lias, and Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director Datu Awang Mohd Fadhilah Awang Redzuan. — DayakDaily
