KUCHING, Aug 7: China’s Honghe County Singing and Dance Troupe from Yunnan province mesmerised the crowd with their impressive cultural performances at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Floating Theatre here last night (Aug 6).

The troupe, with about 25 members, exhibited the essence of original rural songs and classical folk dances through vibrant colours, vivid costumes, flowing dances and ancient tunes.

Among the artistes performing during the 90-minute show included Zhang Wei, Lu Yanru, Li Junjiang, Li Jingbi, Li Huaixi, and Li Huaifu.

Their performance was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.

Additionally, it was reported that the Chinese government has fully funded the staging of the performance in support of Kuching City’s 36th anniversary celebration and the Kuching Food Festival 2024.

Amongst those present were Sarawak’s Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong; Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping; MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng; Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai; Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) president Datuk Richard Wee; and Kuching Food Festival 2024 organising chairman Cr Mok Chuang Ping. — DayakDaily
