Village expansion master plan to be deliberated

KUCHING: The master plan for village expansion in Kampung Kudei Baru here will be studied first, said Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki.

In stating this, Ibrahim said a project for a village expansion which aims to address the problem of population density, will take some time to be studied and it needs consideration from various aspects.

“We will help you (the villagers) but it is not an easy task. We don’t have enough land in the city but our population is increasing.

“Therefore, if we want to expand a village in a city, we need an in-depth master plan. It cannot be done immediately, but please be patient with us as it involves many residents and everything must be fair to everyone,” he said.

He said this when speaking during the Pre-Christmas 2023 celebration at Kampung Kudei Baru community hall here on today.

Commenting further, Ibrahim said that problems related to housing areas are an issue that occurs throughout the state and not only in the village.

“Therefore, the expansion of Kampung Sungai Maong-Segedup has been approved. Maybe we can give it to anyone who has urgent needs. However, it needs to be studied first,” he said.

He also said that soon, the residents in Kampung Kudei Baru village will be provided with the new water pipe installation and other developments.

“Meanwhile, on the village roads, our Mayor Hilmy Othman from Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has agreed to upgrade the roads to tar-sealed roads for a smooth and safe road condition.

“We also have another two houses to be renovated under the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS). So far, we already completed the renovation for 11 houses here.

“And next year, we will commence the work once approved,” he added.

During the celebration, a total of 20 recipients namely the elderly and persons with disabilities (OKU) received Christmas goodies hampers. The celebration also saw young children receiving Christmas gifts.
