SIBU: The Sarawak women’s volleyball team clinched their spot in the final after beating the Federal Territories today.

They controlled the match from start to finish, winning in straight sets with commanding scores of 24-14, 25-10, and 25-13, leaving their opponents unable to keep up.

This victory serves as a major confidence boost for Sarawak as they prepare for the final.

Thai guest coach Sanong Kulchim stressed the importance of the match, saying Sarawak had no option but to win.

“I’m incredibly proud of the determination shown by every player. The Federal Territories are a strong team, but our side displayed remarkable fighting spirit and seized every opportunity to score,” Kulchim said in a post-match interview.

He credited Sarawak’s ability to maintain momentum throughout the match as the key to their success.

“Both teams had an equal chance of winning, but with the right strategy in place, we were able to secure the victory,” he added.

Assistant coach Angela Tan shared her excitement, noting that Sarawak had broken their gold medal drought, with their last championship win dating back to 2013.

“Two years ago, we fell short in the semi-finals, but now we have a chance to redeem ourselves,” she said.
