KUCHING (Aug 11): Two rabies cases involving stray dogs have been recorded in Kuching and Kota Samarahan this week, said Kuching South mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

During his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’, he said the victim in Kuching was from Taman Saujana Indah in Matang here.

“The other rabies case was reported in Taman Riveria in Kota Samarahan. Both the cases involved stray dogs,” he said.

On another note, the mayor announced the resumption of elevator service in the Engkilili Block of KMC Flats, located on Ban Hock Road here, starting today.

“The repair work on the elevator was completed yesterday (Friday). I myself have also tried out the elevator, not to mention that the contractor would also give a last test today (Saturday) to make sure everything goes on smoothly.

“Tomorrow (Aug 11), the elevator will be open for residents’ use,” he said.

Wee thanked the contractor for having accomplished the repair work within a month.

According to him, the project was scheduled for completion in two months but the contractor managed to get it done ahead of schedule.

“Of course, I’ve communicated with the contractor, hoping that they could do it as quickly as possible so as not to cause inconvenience to the residents,” he said.

He commended the contractor for prioritising the interests of the residents.

He also apologised to the residents for the inconvenience caused by the elevator’s downtime during the repair process.

The mayor pledged that the Kuching South City Council will continue to strive for delivering quality services for city dwellers.
