BATU NIAH, Sept. 19: A workers' home in Pekan Batu Niah was destroyed in a fire this morning.

According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Sarawak, it received a call about the incident at 9.55 am.

"The Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) arrived on the scene at 10.01 am and found a fire involving a house of non-permanent structure measuring about 30 x 40 square feet.

"The house was occupied by six people, but no victims were involved in the incident", the statement said.

A six-member fire brigade using an FRT machine and a auxiliary channel started the fires.

The fire was brought under control at 10:15 a.m. before operations were fully shut down by 11:10 a.m.

Two members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and two members of Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) are also assisting in the operation. - TVS
