Works Minister reports 1,203 cases out of 5,836 complaints resolved via MYJalan app as of Dec 6

KUCHING, Dec 13: Works (KKR) Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has informed the Dewan Negara that as of Dec 6, his ministry has resolved 1,203 of the 5,836 complaints received via the MYJalan app.

According to Nanta, of the 5,836 complaints received on the MyJalan app, which was launched on Aug 24, 1,532 of them were related to roads supervised by KKR, while the remaining 4,304 complaints were regarding roads under the jurisdiction of other authorities, Bernama reported yesterday (Dec 12).

“From the 1,532 complaints, roads with potholes recorded the highest number of complaints at 523, followed by damaged roads and streetlights at 289 each, traffic lights (161), road markings (96), obstruction (77), signage (34), public facilities (31), street furniture (22) as well as landslides (10),” he said, as cited by the news outlet, during the winding up debate for the ministry’s Supply Bill 2024 at the Dewan Negara in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The Works Minister went on to say that the data collected through the MYJalan app will not only help the ministry make analyses, comparisons, and decisions, but will also serve as the master data in analysing damage and improving road conditions across the country.

He mentioned that the data will also assist the ministry, state government, and local authorities (PBT) in their planning efforts, including the application process for road maintenance funding from the Ministry of Finance.

As per the news report, the MYJalan campaign represents an advocacy platform for all, including stakeholders, users, and highway industry players, apart from giving space to motorists to lodge complaints in the event of road damage. — DayakDaily
