KUCHING, July 13: The 10th World Congress of Herpetology (WCH10), set to take place in Kuching from Aug 5 to 9 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), will see a record-breaking attendance of 1,400 international delegates from 70 countries, making it the largest gathering of herpetology experts in Malaysia’s history.

The World Congress of Herpetology aims to bring together leading researchers, scientists, conservationists, and enthusiasts to share knowledge, research findings, and expertise related to reptiles and amphibians.

The event will feature a lineup of expert speakers from around the world, who will present on a wide range of topics, including conservation, ecology, physiology, behaviour, and evolution of herpetofauna.

Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) chief executive officer Amelia Roziman highlighted the excitement to host this event in Kuching, a city known for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural landscapes throughout Sarawak.

“This congress is a unique opportunity for herpetology professionals from across the globe to come together to exchange ideas, collaborate on research projects, and discuss the latest trends in the field,” she said in a media release today.

In addition to keynote presentations and panel discussions, WCH10 will also feature workshops, networking events, and field trips to local herpetological sites.

This event is supported by BESarawak, Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), AGARK DGHT, and the Institute of Agriculture, University of Tennessee (UT AgResearch).
